Q: You are a rising Star. What has 2022 been like for you?
A: It’s been an amazing year so far which began with my song, Hearts On The Line, awarded ‘One Of The Best Tracks of 2021’ with BBC Introducing in Lincolnshire, England! I then released my track, Hopes & Dreams, this year, which was named Track Of The Week on BBC Introducing Humberside and has continued to receive recognition and air-play on various radio stations throughout Britain. Following this interest in my music, I have felt excited and driven to spend as much precious time as possible song writing, recording new music and performing. I am ready to release my new single, ‘Golden Sun.’ I feel this song has great potential and will hopefully be appreciated by its listeners and it was a lot of fun writing too.
Q: You have received many awards including, Winner of UK Unsigned. Your track, Golden Dreams, named Outstanding Track with BBC Introducing Humberside Awarded Most Talented Songwriter at Battle of the Bands Lincoln. What have these experiences meant to you?
A: I am so grateful for all these experiences and achievements which have helped pave the way for my success in music so far. To be recognized as a Singer and Songwriter through national competitions and through performing at events and radio air-play has given me the self-belief to continue on my musical journey and never give up! When my first debut single was named an Outstanding Track with BBC Introducing, I was so overwhelmed by the support of the listeners and other radio presenters such as Alex from Siren Fm and Jono from regional radio who continue to support me and push my music to the forefront. Music is my life, and I will continue to strive to be heard. It’s been a journey and I certainly wouldn’t change it for the world. I feel all these experiences have helped shape who I am today! I always try to tell others, especially the students I have taught as a drama teacher that no matter what your dreams are don’t hold yourself back, believe in you and go for it as you never know where you’ll end up.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: I am inspired by people who have struggled through adversity and are resilient and keep going! I think it’s an incredible trait to have. I am also inspired by talent in others. We all have our own gifts and it’s learning to shape that. Most of all I am inspired by many artists and songwriters who remain true to their own vision, unique voice and style! I draw inspiration from artists such as the very talented Kate Bush, Adele, Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Lady Gaga. One of the main artists I’ve been influenced by is the very quirky Kate Bush. Her lyrics and music always tell a theatrical story filled with emotion. I feel her performances are always captivating which always makes her stand out against others.
Q: Tell me about “Golden Sun” and why it appeals to pop lovers.
A: I really hope people will be uplifted by the song to have self-belief in what they can achieve if they are brave and keep trying to realize their dreams. The lyrics are informing listeners to not be afraid to step out and away from their fears, accepting the past and when the time is right stepping out from the shadows into the Golden Sun. I feel the song signifies hope and change. Reviewers have described the song as soulful, soothing, uplifting, sunny and a breath of fresh air and the perfect soothing summer ballad!
‘Golden Sun’ is a track that will appeal to pop lovers looking for new soulful acoustic, melancholy, and emotive music to add to their playlists. Stepping out into the sun fills the listeners with imagery of positive change and freedom. I can imagine people enjoying listening to the track whilst on holiday or just chilling.
I also hope pop lovers will enjoy the Music Video for this track, filmed in the English countryside surrounded by nature which I felt was the perfect setting for this song.

Q: ‘Golden Sun’ is described as a spellbinding acoustic-pop summer ballad that is both soothing and uplifting in equal measure. What did you enjoy the most about writing this song?
A: I really enjoyed the excitement of writing this song and believing it would be appreciated by others and it ended up being completely different to how I expected it to be. Crazily, I co-wrote this song on one evening, I felt like it was meant to be written. I currently co-write all my music with my talented musician friend, Harry David, who produces the music we write together. We love to collaborate and combine our ideas when working through the lyrics and the melody as we go along. Luckily, we make a great team so the song writing flows very easily. Initially I began humming to develop a catchy melody whilst Harry was playing the chords on his acoustic guitar. I remember improvising the lyrics to see what I could create that is meaningful and successful in storytelling and sometimes it’s funny as I play with words and I end up in fits of laughter. Our sessions are always enjoyable. I started singing the chorus of ‘Golden Sun…. Sun..’ and we both turned to each other, and we said, “oooh, this sounds good, ha!” We knew at that moment we had the makings of a good song! We both felt positive about the energy the song creates and its summer vibe. I’m excited to share this song with everyone!
Q: What makes a hit song?
A: A hit song isn’t really one specific recipe you can follow, but I’d say a track that stands out that’s quirky and unusual. I think the best songs ever written are the ones that are honest, heartfelt and show true relatable emotion within the lyrics and are believable through the artist’s voice such as John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ or Elton John’s ‘Your Song’. Another important element is the recognizable intro and how the chords and notes compliment the lyrics and voice. Not forgetting how most people enjoy a catchy tune and chorus to get us hooked making a song memorable and how we all like a good sing-along too, whether sad like Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ or uplifting like Dolly Parton’s ‘Working 9 to 5.’ Every hit song can become a personal memory for the listener, a reminder of a life event, a significant moment in a person’s life, a marriage, a break-up, a great holiday, or a bereavement. My intention is to write songs that offer such a memory and can become a part of their personal histories and hopefully make a positive impact on their lives.
Q: What is next?
A: Right now, I am currently working on recording an album and hoping to build on my current fanbase. I would love to receive national airplay on all renowned radio stations in the year 2023. I am also hoping to attract music producers/supervisors as one of my ambitions is for my music to be played in films and dramas. This would be a dream come true! I am hoping to be performing in as many venues as possible next year and meeting new supporters who can join the journey with me!
