There are events you attend, and then there are experiences that stay with you long after the music ends. The 2026 Chicago Gospel Music Festival was exactly that—an unforgettable celebration of faith, hope, community, and the life-changing power of gospel music.
Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), this year's free festival brought thousands of worshippers, music lovers, families, and visitors to Millennium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion on July 24 and 25. E.G.O. Entertainment Network had the privilege of covering the festival as credentialed media, with Lady J and Michelle Jones capturing exclusive interviews, memorable performances, and inspiring moments throughout the day.
Saturday's festivities were expertly hosted by Inspiration 1390's Sonya Blakey alongside special guest host DeAndre Patterson. From the opening notes of the National Anthem and "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the atmosphere was filled with anticipation, gratitude, and praise.
One of the day's first standout moments came as Ray Bady and Queenie presented Chicago Youth United, showcasing some of the city's brightest young gospel performers. Their passion, confidence, and remarkable vocal talent proved that the future of gospel music is alive and thriving. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause as these young artists delivered performances that inspired generations.
Keeping the momentum going, the Ladies of Chicago Quartet, presented by Little Harry, brought traditional quartet gospel to the stage with elegance and unmistakable style. Dressed in classic church attire complete with beautifully adorned hats, the group reminded everyone why quartet music continues to be a cherished part of gospel history. Their powerful harmonies and spirited performance had festivalgoers clapping, singing, and celebrating right along with them.
The spirit of unity continued as DeAndre Patterson and Janet Sutton introduced the Chicago Unity Choir. Filling Millennium Park with beloved gospel favorites, the choir created an atmosphere where strangers became family through worship, proving once again that music has the power to bring people together.

Performing his inspiring new single, "Speak Lord," alongside many of his timeless gospel favorites, Ricky Dillard once again proved why he remains one of the most influential voices in contemporary gospel music. His energy, excellence, and heartfelt ministry electrified the crowd from beginning to end.
Closing the festival was legendary gospel artist Hezekiah Walker & Love Fellowship Choir. From the moment he stepped onto the stage, the audience erupted with excitement as he performed some of his most beloved songs, including the classic "Won't He Make You Clean Inside." Yet one of the most impactful moments came between the music, when Walker encouraged the crowd with a heartfelt reminder that God is still a right-now God. His words resonated deeply with many who were carrying personal challenges, serving as a powerful reminder that hope and faith remain constant even during life's most difficult seasons.
One of the festival's most touching moments came as longtime Chicago radio personality Pam Morris Walton of WVON was recognized for her extraordinary contributions to gospel music and the community. In honor of her decades of service, leadership, and dedication, the City of Chicago officially proclaimed July 25 as "Pam Morris Day." The standing ovation that followed reflected the tremendous respect and gratitude she has earned throughout her remarkable career. Her influence has helped shape not only this beloved festival but also the lives of countless artists and listeners across the city.
The 2026 Chicago Gospel Music Festival once again demonstrated why it remains one of the nation's premier gospel music celebrations.
