The first ever Quartet Music Awards was created by D. Chubbs Morton and Connie Birth. These two powerhouses came together to honor some of the gospel industry's greats in the quartet division. The epic inaugural ceremony took place at The Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, GA on June 18, 2022. The event was hosted by the legendary Dr. Bobby Jones and it was n evening to remember.
The honorees for the first year included Lee Williams of Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC's (may he rest in power), Tiffanie TuTu Agee, George Dean, Evelyn Turentine-Agee, Harvey Watkins Jr., Cleve Graham, Spencer Taylor, and Percy Griffin. Among the winners for those nominated were Indy's own, The Williams Singers, for their album, Quartagious, in the category of Album of the Year. Other winners included Lisa Knowles-Smith (Female Vocalist of the Year), Ray Braswell (Producer of the Year), and The Gospel Legends (National Artist of the Year). Congratulations to all of the winners for this year.
E.G.O. Entertainment had the opportunity to interview on the red carpet and in the media room. The artists reflect the message they share in their music and this event has been well overdue in the gospel music industry. Quartet music is a part of the foundation of this genre and should not be overlooked, but celebrated and we are happy to have witnessed this historical event and have the opportunity to participate. The event is set to take place again next year in Atlanta on June 23rd and June 24th.
